Sometimes GameFreak comes up with completely insane ways to get a Pokémon. Perhaps the most difficult are the obstacles that you have to overcome for Zorua and Zoroark. Because these two were the first Generation V Pokémon revealed, they are already some of the most sought after, and sadly, they are also some of the most frustrating to obtain. In fact, unless you follow EXACTLY this guide, you won’t be able to get any of the Pokemon, and even then you must have gone through some pretty complex steps even before Pokemon Black and White was released. Let’s go through the entire process to make sure you will be able to get both Zorua and Zoroark for your collection.
Zoroark is a fox-like Pokémon covered primarily in dark gray fur. It has a pointed snout, a red line around the eyes and mouth, teal eyes, a ruff of fluffy black hair around the neck, and a long, voluminous spiky mane of crimson red with gray tips.
Zoroark is, for now, the only non-mythical Pokémon that can only be captured through an event. For this reason, he is mistaken for a legendary. Zoroark can only be obtained when a Raikou, Entei, or Suicune is brought to the Lostlorn Forest outside the city of Nimbasa.
You must have collected four specific Pokémon from an EB Games / Gamestop Wi-Fi event. Three of these Pokémon (Shiny Entei, Shiny Raikou, and Shiny Suicune) will help you unlock Zoroark. You only need one of them, so don’t worry if you have downloaded two or even just one. You can still get Zoroark. The fourth Pokémon is Celebi, which you should have downloaded from a similar event.
Now, since the only way to download these Pokémon was through a copy of Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum, Gold Heart, or Silver Soul, you will have to transfer these Pokémon to your new copy of Pokémon Black and White. However, you can’t just transfer your Pokémon through the Poketransfer process that is unlocked after completing the main game. In fact, DO NOT USE THIS AT ALL WITH THESE FOUR POKEMON! If you do, you will lose the ability to unlock the Zorua and Zoroark events. Instead, you’ll need to unlock a whole new way to transfer these Pokémon called Relocator. The Relocator only works with these Pokémon, but the good news is that you can transfer them at any time, even long before you unlock the Poketransfer process.
Zorua is fairly easy to obtain. Once you’ve transferred Celebi to your copy of Pokemon Black or White, head over to Castelia City. In fact, if you do this right after activating the Relocator option, you’re already there! At one of the city gates, you will find a new character to talk to. Make sure to talk to her while Celebi is in your group. Once you do, Celebi will pop out of her Pokeball and Zorua will reveal himself. Then she watches the dialogue and finally, her trainer will give you Zorua. This will be a level 10 male Zorua and although it was given to you by another trainer, your trainer ID number will be attached. Remember that you can raise Zorua and possibly turn him into Zoroark if you don’t have any of Johto’s brilliant trios.
